I: Treatment of peptic ulcer disease and other conditions where inhibition of gastric acid secretions may be beneficial.
D: Duodenal ulcer - 30 mg once daily for 4 weeks. Benign gastric ulcer - 30 mg once daily for 8 weeks. Reflux esophagitis - 30 mg once daily for 4 weeks. Should be administered in the morning before food. Elderly: Usual dose - 30 mg once daily. Hepatic impairment - No dose adjustment, should not exceed 30 g daily. Renal impairment - No need to alter the dosage in patients with impaired renal function.
CI: Hypersensitivity, pregnancy, nursing mothers, children.
P: Common w/ other anti-ulcer therapies, the possibility of malignancy should be excluded when gastric ulcer is suspected, as symptoms may be alleviated and diagnosis delayed. Pregnancy Risk Category B.
SE: Headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, constipation, flatulence, dizziness, fatigue, rash, urticaria, pruritis, arthralgia, peripheral edema, depression, thrombocytopenia, leucopenia.
DI: Phenytion, theophylline, warfarin, antacid, sucralfate.
